It’s fantasy football week eight, which means we’re over halfway to the fantasy football playoffs, and halfway through the real fantasy football season. “What about week seventeen championships?” you might ask. To that, I say: join a real fantasy football league. As always, we’re here to help with some fantasy football sleeper running backs to help plug holes in your lineup. These guys are owned in less than 50% of Yahoo! leagues, with one player available in at least 90% of Yahoo! leagues. The same caveats apply: see if the guy’s in Waleed’s Waiver Wire Cheat Sheet are available in your league. If they aren’t, then here are some fantasy football sleeper running back options for you!
Week Eight Fantasy Football Sleeper RB:
J.D. McKissic versus N.Y. Giants (23% Owned)
With Kerryon Johnson headed to Injured Reserve, teams flocked to waiver wires to dump all their FAAB on Ty Johnson. Not so fast, as J.D. McKissic, a career pass-catching back, outgained him last week in half as many touches. McKissic needed just five carries and three targets to turn in 60 yards last week. Should that opportunity expand this week, he would see his increased role against a terrible defense against running backs. The Giants give up the most fantasy points to running backs this season, and you might remember them from feebly trying to tackle Chase Edmonds last weekend. Or feebly trying to tackle Sony Michel or Brandon Bolden. Or feebly trying to tackle Ronald Jones or Devin Singletary. The point is, they’re not great, and with everyone dumping all their FAAB on Ty Johnson, you can still swoop up J.D. McKissic on the fantasy football waiver wire this week.
Week Eight Fantasy Football Sleeper RB:
Mark Walton at Pittsburgh (21% Owned)
Nobody respecting Mark Walton (and Walton neglecting to put up massive boom games), and the general… Miami Dolphins… nature of it all makes this an easy week-over-week addition to the fantasy football sleepers column. Walton hasn’t done anything overwhelming over the last couple of games, but he’s 21% owned and unlikely to poop the bed. He has 27 opportunities over the last two games, which he’s turned into 133 yards over the last couple of contests. This week, he gest a Steelers team that isn’t a great matchup overall. However, they are in the top half in running back receptions and running back receiving yards, both areas where Mark Walton excels. With Kenyan Drake potentially on his way out of town and Kalen Ballage remaining Kalen Ballage, snagging Mark Walton might be squeezing blood from a stone, but he should get you at least a handful of fantasy points in a pinch…
Week Eight Fantasy Football Sleeper RB:
Kalen Ballage at Pittsburgh (8% Owned)
Or maybe it’ll be Kalen Ballage, who has touchdowns in back-to-back games. I’m not holding by breath, but maybe he can repeat his astronomical streak of three carry, seven yard, one touchdown games.
