The Detroit Lions didn’t need anything going into the 2025 NFL Draft. Their downfall in 2024 was the scourge of injuries, which left them rolling out street free agents down the stretch. So, they beefed up their depth along the lines, snagged an edge rusher and a depth safety, and two wide receivers in this draft. Isaac TeSlaa cost them three third-round picks, and Dominic Lovett was considerably cheaper. Let’s take a look to see what we could expect from them in 2025 fantasy football leagues.
Rd | Pick | Player | Pos | College |
1 | 28 | Tyleik Williams | DT | Ohio State |
2 | 57 | Tate Ratledge | OG | Georgia |
3 | 70 | Isaac TeSlaa | WR | Arkansas |
5 | 171 | Miles Frazier | OG | LSU |
6 | 196 | Ahmed Hassanein | EDGE | Boise State |
7 | 230 | Dan Jackson | S | Georgia |
7 | 244 | Dominic Lovett | WR | Georgia |
Round 3, Pick 70: Isaac TeSlaa, Wide Receiver, Arkansas (6’3″, 214 lbs)
TALENT
TeSlaa is a massive slot receiver who destroys the smaller nickels across from him with his size and ability to high-point a football. He’s a strong receiver who bullies the defenders, and even though his 4.43 40-yard dash won’t win any foot races, he places exactly that fast. He’s best suited to destroying zone defenses underneath (which now make up about 70% of defensive playbooks), but he gets worked over by strong nickel defenders. TeSlaa is an avid blocker. So, he’s fast and strong, but needs some polish to make it all work.
He makes for an intriguing late dart throw in all PPR dynasty leagues, though his early draft capital could make him the one TeSlaa stock on the rise. Hopefully, it won’t blow up on you. Cybertruck.

Things are a bit confusing for TeSlaa this season. The Lions spent three third-round picks to get him, sending two thirds to trade up in the third to get him. So, that suggests that they have a nice role for him out of the gate. But, at the same time, I didn’t see much out of him pre-draft that had me super-thrilled for him right away, doubly so because the Lions already have a slot super stud in Amon-Ra St. Brown.
In my mind, there’s no path forward for TeSlaa in his rookie year. I know that the Lions are a smart franchise (imagine saying that a decade ago), but he will peak as the WR3 on this team in 2025 and needs to surpass Tim Patrick. It’s doubtful that he gets many opportunities to produce this season.
2025 FANTASY FOOTBALL OUTLOOK
TeSlaa has no value unless someone gets hurt. He’s a stash in deep leagues, but a good waiver pickup should injuries befall the Lions’ wide receiver room otherwise.
Round 7, Pick 244: Dominic Lovett, Wide Receiver, Georgia (5’10”, 185 lbs)
TALENT
Lovett is a speedy and agile receiver who is a slippery fish with the ball in his hands; he’s a precise route-runner with a lot of burst. That said, he doesn’t make it downfield much, as his ball tracking is just okay, despite his good hands. Like seemingly half this class, he struggles with physical defensive backs at the line of scrimmage, and is likely destined for a slot role in the league.

Lovett is a pure slot receiver playing behind the league’s best slot receiver. You do the math.
2025 FANTASY FOOTBALL OUTLOOK
Lovett needs two different slot receivers, at least, to suffer injuries before he has fantasy relevance. You can ignore him.
