Week One Fantasy Football TE Sleepers – Keep Austin Weird

Week One Fantasy Football TE Sleepers

Look, fantasy football isn’t fair. Sometimes you miss out on every single bid you make in FAAB, or somehow every player you want is plucked off waivers before your priority comes around. That leaves free agency to fill the holes in your roster you wish a guy off the wire would have filled. That’s okay, every week players pop up and become the next guy you can lose out on in FAAB. These are the best of the rest, the guys available freely in every league. These fantasy football tight end sleepers for week one are available in at least 50% of leagues, with one guy available in at least 90% of leagues for you deep divers. For week one, you really shouldn’t be reading this, as you should play the guys you drafted. However, many marginal starters like Jimmy Garoppolo and Patrick Mahomes have terrible first-week matchups. These week one fantasy football TE sleepers should provide you with all the help you need. Ownership percentages are from Yahoo! and are as of Friday.

Austin Seferian-Jenkins @ New York Giants (32% owned)
This juicy matchup has a bit of brake-pumping built in as ASJ has a core muscle injury. He practiced Thursday and Friday (while being completely off the injury report). He’s a go this weekend in a wide receiver corps made up mostly of Mighty Mites (Donte Moncrief excepted). The Jags will reap the benefit of his ridiculously bad touchdown luck regressing to the mean this season, and they start with the worst defense against tight ends last season. Every one of the eleven tight ends who received at least five targets against the Giants last season scored at least ten fantasy points against them in standard scoring, except Niles Paul and Jared Cook. ASJ is going to EAT, so he makes the week one fantasy football TE sleepers list.

Ricky Seals-Jones vs. Washington (30% owned)
Ricky Seals-Jones had one of the most efficient rookie tight end seasons last year, he just did it on limited snaps. With a new receiving corps around him, it’s time for him to make his mark in the desert. He takes on a Washington team that was just all-around bad against tight ends last year. Want to know more, read my article on RSJ to see exactly why he’s on the list of week one fantasy football TE sleepers.

Antonio Gates v Kansas City  (10% owned)
If you score a touchdown, you’re essentially a shoo-in to be a top-ten tight end in standard scoring on the week. Old Man Gates will get two catches, seven yards and a score in the initial game of what will be his retirement tour. The Chiefs defense is atrocious, and they will be without Eric Berry. It’s as good a bet as any down here. Good enough for be a week one fantasy football TE sleeper.
