Week One Fantasy Football QB Sleepers – Andy the Man-dy?

Week One Fantasy Football QB Sleepers

Look, fantasy football isn’t fair. Sometimes you miss out on every single bid you make in FAAB, or somehow every player you want is plucked off waivers before your priority comes around. That leaves free agency to fill the holes in your roster you wish a guy off the wire would have filled. That’s okay, every week players pop up and become the next guy you can lose out on in FAAB. These are the best of the rest, the guys available freely in every league. These fantasy football quarterback sleepers for week one are available in at least 50% of leagues, with one guy available in at least 90% of leagues for you deep divers. For week one, you really shouldn’t be reading this, as you should play the guys you drafted. However, many marginal starters like Jimmy Garoppolo and Patrick Mahomes have terrible first-week matchups. These week one fantasy football QB sleepers should provide you with all the help you need. Ownership percentages are from Yahoo! and are as of Friday.

Blake Bortles at New York Giants (32% owned)
I’m not going to lie to you and paint some flowery picture that makes it seem like Blake Bortles had a good preseason. He looked awful. That’s not the point of the week one fantasy football QB sleepers list. Blake Bortles has always been awful, and he’s always posted useful fantasy football games when the matchup merits it. This week, he takes on a Giants team that isn’t appreciably better on defense than the one that allowed the most fantasy points to QBs last year. Want more feel-goods? Over the last five weeks of 2017, only three quarterbacks scored more fantasy points than Blake Bortles.

Andy Dalton at Indianapolis (28% owned)
I wrote an entire article on Andy Dalton this week. He’s honestly my favorite streaming option among week one fantasy football QB sleepers, and it isn’t close. He was better than his season-end numbers indicated, as his first two weeks were disastrous. He’s good when he’s protected; the line is bolstered and the Indy pass rush is nothing to worry about. He has a 250 yard, two score floor.

Tyrod Taylor vs. Pittsburgh (10% owned)
An incredibly bleak crop of quarterbacks sit below the 10% ownership threshold this week. Therefore, we turn to Tyrod/Tuhrod “The Toolman Taylor” to make this list of week one fantasy football QB sleepers complete. They call him that because he has all the tools: he can rush, he can dump off, he can go deep. The Browns have a bunch of weapons capable of taking advantage of whatever the Steelers give them. Taylor’s legs give him an extra level of usefulness. The Steelers faltered down the stretch last year, allowing the eleventh-most fantasy points to QBs in the last five games. Tyrod likely won’t light the world on fire this weekend, but it was basically him, Joe Flacco, Sam Bradford, or Ryan Tannehill. Barf.
