The Buffalo Bills made the playoffs for the first time since the Clinton administration at the end of the 2017 season (and scored a whopping three points), so they really don’t want to break up the band… after spending all season trying to break up the band. A disaster draft is coming at the wrong time for a team on the upswing, but it is what it is. Given that I get to control what happens here, they aren’t going to be complete idiots about Tyrod Taylor. The name of the game with the players they kept is keeping as much of the overall defense and offensive line together as possible… oh and pulling their heads out of their rear ends with regards to their best quarterback in a long time.
Significant FA lost: Kyle Williams, Preston Brown, Ramon Humber, Jordan Matthews
The No Doubters:
Cordy Glenn | LT | $14,200,000 | $14,450,000 | $12,450,000 | $12,700,000 | UFA |
Jerry Hughes | DE | $10,450,000 | $10,400,000 | $10,400,000 | UFA | – |
Eric Wood | C | $8,524,999 | $8,625,000 | $7,691,668 | UFA | – |
Richie Incognito | G | $4,925,000 | $7,575,000 | UFA | – | – |
Micah Hyde | SS | $4,000,000 | $6,800,000 | $6,650,000 | $6,700,000 | $6,750,000 |
Patrick DiMarco | FB | $1,850,000 | $2,050,000 | $2,150,000 | $2,350,000 | UFA |
Tre’Davious White | CB | $1,834,747 | $2,293,434 | $2,752,121 | $3,210,808 | – |
Jordan Poyer | FS | $2,475,000 | $3,375,000 | $3,575,000 | $3,575,000 | UFA |
Cordy Glenn almost didn’t make the No Doubters due to a pair of season-ending injuries in each of the last two years. Hughes is pricy, but productive. Wood and Incognito are the best parts of an extremely strong offensive line, and DiMarco makes the run game hum. Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer are among the best safety duos in the NFL, and Tre’Davious White was Pro Football Focus’s rookie of the year. These next guys are likely staying in a disaster draft, though their safety is guaranteed.
The More-Than-Likely Staying:
LeSean McCoy | RB | $10,375,000 | $8,950,000 | $9,050,000 | UFA | – |
Tyrod Taylor | QB | $9,713,334 | $18,080,000 | $2,080,000 | $2,080,000 | $1,400,000 |
Charles Clay | TE | $9,000,000 | $9,000,000 | $9,000,000 | UFA | – |
Shaq Lawson | DE | $2,336,130 | $2,803,356 | $3,270,586 | – | UFA |
Zay Jones | WR | $1,232,696 | $1,540,870 | $1,849,044 | $2,157,220 | UFA |
Lorenzo Alexander | OLB | $3,000,000 | $3,400,000 | UFA | – | – |
Dion Dawkins | T | $760,589 | $950,736 | $1,140,883 | $1,331,031 | UFA |
Kelvin Benjamin | WR | $529,411 | $8,459,000 | UFA | – | – |
The only question with McCoy is age, as he turns thirty next year. He’s the best offensive player on the team, so he’ll most likely stay, but they may make an insane choice. Tyrod Taylor is me wresting control of the organization, who wants to push out TyGod. Shaq Lawson has the most tenuous hold on the roster out of these sixteen, as he’s a borderline bust at this point (though he had four sacks this year before hitting IR). Zay Jones, Charles Clay and Kelvin Benjamin ensure Tyrod has weapons around him (that’s being very generous to the definition of “weapons”). Dion Dawkins has filled in well this year in Cordy Glenn’s absence and makes the roster as insurance and as a swing tackle.
The Leftovers:
