Week Nine Waiver Wire: QB RB WR TE
Fantasy Football: Week Ten Waiver Wire Running Backs aka The Bleached Bones of Desperation
Imagine you are walking through the desert, desperately hoping for just a glimpse of water. Then, in the distance, you see an oasis and know that you are saved. If you are looking for a waiver wire running back for week ten, you might be seeing this very vision. But it is a mirage, brought upon you because your running backs are so bad. So let’s examine what our best waiver wire running back options for week nine are.
Matt Forte – Owned in 44% of leagues – You will not find a bigger Matt Forte fan than me. As a fan of the Chicago Bears, I have nothing but love for the man. But even after having his best game of the season, posting 96 combined yards and 2 touchdown, I find it hard to trust him or the Jets offense to be consistent. If I was desperate, I might pick him up as a free agent once he clears waivers, but I would not burn my waiver position on him. (I’m sorry, Matt. I still love you.)
Corey Clement – Owned in 1% of leagues – Corey Clement had a monster of a game against the Denver Broncos, with 66 combined yards and 3 touchdowns. He also saw the most snaps of any of the Philadelphia Eagles running backs. Does this mean Corey Clement is the king of the Eagles backfield? More likely, this was an aberration and he will go back to being the 4th running back on the Philadelphia Eagles roster. I would not burn my waiver position on him.
Damien Williams – Owned in 33% of leagues – This week, Damien Williams had 6 catches for 47 yards and 1 touchdown. He also found himself on the field for 45% of the snaps, establishing himself as the Miami Dolphins 3rd down back. The problem is, he is still a running back on the Miami Dolphins and I want absolutely no part of that tire fire. I cannot burn my waiver priority on a player whose team is amongst the worst at running back in football.
Bonus: Danny Woodhead – Owned in 27% of leagues – Last week, Danny Woodhead was owned in 17% of leagues. This week, he is owned in 27% of leagues. Don’t get behind the ball on this one. If you need a running back, this is the man to get. If you want to know why, look at my thoughts from last week.
