Week 12 WR Sleepers – Cash in Your Amendollars
It’s week 12, so at this point, you really should have a wide receiver rotation setup and ready to go. However, given the absolute hammers at WR that are out this week (Brandin Cooks, Sammy Watkins, Tyreek Hill, Robert Woods, and Cooper Kupp), it’s understandable that you may need one of these week 12 WR sleepers as a bye week replacement. This week 12 WR sleepers list highlights three guys available in over 50% of Yahoo! leagues (as of writing, Wednesday morning). For those of you in deeper leagues, the third one of these week 12 WR sleepers is available in at least 90% of Yahoo! leagues.
Danny Amendola at Indianapolis (38% owned)
Danny Amendola’s 7.7 targets per game over the last four weeks ranks in the top-twenty-five of players playing this week, and that doesn’t include his eleven target effort five weeks ago. In short, he’s been a target hog for the Miami Dolphins offense. He’s hauled in at least five catches in each of his last five games and topped 70 yards twice in that span. The Perpetual Danny Amendola Problem popped up this week, as he showed up on the injury report with a hamstring strain. However, he’s become the first, second and third option in the Miami passing game recently. Ryan Tannehill is back, but this role is secure in the Miami offense (the former Jarvis Landry role). The Colts are a bad matchup on paper (seventh-fewest fantasy points to WRs), but they’ve given up four double-digit fantasy days in half-PPR to WRs in their last three games, including two to the Raiders. If he plays on Sunday, he represents a wonderful WR3 floor play if you’re in a pinch and looking for week 12 WR sleepers.
Adam Humphries versus San Francisco (21% owned)
As a 49ers fan, one thing that has served me well in fantasy football over the last few years is finding someone playing against the Niners and hammering that team’s players in DFS. It is hardly ever a failure, and it’s what I call a “happiness hedging lineup.” Adam Humphries gets the nod with Jameis Winston, who seems to prefer him to Chris Godwin, under center. Jameis getting benched is not a fear I have as the 49ers second has just two picks all year. Humphries has quietly flown under the radar recently, despite posting 195 yards and three touchdowns over the last three games for the Buccos. The Niners defense, for their part, has only been pretty bad against WRs lately, instead of abjectly terrible. However, if you extract the Raiders game from their statistics (a Reverse Rams Mulligan), they’ve allowed eight double-digit fantasy days to wide receivers in their last four games. Yikes!
Curtis Samuel versus Seattle (4% owned)
At this point, what is the functional difference between having Devin Funchess and Curtis Samuel in your fantasy football lineups? Curtis Samuel is better at football and is a better athlete than Funchess. Both represent boom-or-bust touchdown plays, and one is a lumbering oaf (Funchess) and the other a nimble gazelle (Samuel). While the Legion of Boom has been spread to the four winds, the ‘Hawks are still a formidable pass defense. However, their weakness lately has been the deep ball, which would lead to targets to Samuel on the Panthers (he gets his fair share of short passes, and I could not picture Devin Funchess going slow motion down the field for a forty yard bomb). While they are greater talents than Samuel, deep ball artists Marvin Jones, Keenan Allen, Brandin Cooks, and Davante Adams have all posted over 100 yards against the Seahawks in the last four weeks. He’s best suited as a DFS play because he could easily goose egg, but he’s the WR I like most under 10% ownership among week 12 WR sleepers.
