If you read my article on playing the waiver wire game, you know that it is an essential part of winning your fantasy football league. If you haven’t read it, what are you waiting for? I just told you it’s a necessary part of winning your fantasy football league! Why do you hate winning? One of the best ways to maximize your weekly scoring is to stream defenses. This strategy is simple: we aren’t as concerned about good defenses as much as finding defenses that are playing terrible offenses. Bad offenses are more likely to keep playing badly because if they knew how to be good, they would already be good. Due to this flawless logic, I will highlight the best streaming options weekly.
Los Angeles Rams DEF (38% owned) @ Baltimore Ravens
Last week, the Rams were my top defensive streaming option, but I did not account for the power of McCorkle Jones. This week, the Rams have a couple of extra days to rest up before playing a Ravens team that is without Lamar Jackson and absolutely decimated with injuries. The Rams have the eighth-most turnovers and third-most sacks. The Ravens have given up the tenth-most turnovers and the fifth-most sacks. I expect the Rams to wreck Cooper Rush.
New England Patriots DEF (30% owned) @ New Orleans Saints
The New England Patriots are quietly playing outstanding defense. Through five weeks, they are the DST7 on the season. The Patriots are giving up the ninth-fewest points per game, while the Saints are scoring the sixth-fewest points per game. To me, this comes down to a simple question – can the Saints win two games in a row? I’m starting the Patriots because I don’t think they can.
Las Vegas Raiders DEF (5% owned) @ Tennessee Titans
The Raiders are not a good football team, but the Titans are even worse. They needed an absolute miracle to win against a mediocre Cardinals team. They have the second-most sacks in football, and they score the fewest points per game. I like betting on bad teams to keep being bad, and the Tennessee Titans are the worst in football.
