As a Prospect:
Tyler Allgeier does not come with the flash or pedigree of a Hall, Spiller, or Walker. With that said, watching his tape made me instantly fall in love with his game. He’s tough, always pushing the pile, and runs so angry you’d think he was my dad, yelling at the kid at Burger King who messed up his order. He breaks off chunks, finds the hole, and explodes into the second level, with the ability to get extra yards after contact every time he touches the ball.
Fantasy Football Potential:
Major sleeper alert here! I’m hoping Allgeier can be this year’s Elijah Mitchell because I think as soon as he gets on the field he is going to win over coaches with his playstyle and football IQ. He can run, he can block, hell he can force fumbles (and is a converted linebacker). He also had over 1,000 yards after contact this season, second most behind Walker, and forced 76 missed tackles, 6th in the nation. Allgeier is a last spot on the bench guy in redraft, and, in my unpopular opinion, the 4th best running back in this class.
Overall:
Tyler Allgeier is my favorite RB sleeper in this draft. I think he is gritty and strong, and he is a shifty enough runner to translate to the NFL. I want Tyler Allgeier on my football team, real or fantasy. His forced fumble against Arizona State was like the coolest play I saw during my entire tape study. Concerns that he won’t be a three-down starter in the NFL are valid, but there’s no way a team keeps this dude off the field for very long. I did a rookie mock with some of the Football Absurdity people on the Discord, and I took him at 1.12 and I swear I’ll do it again, don’t make me do it again!
