If you read my article on playing the waiver wire game, you know that it is an essential part of winning your fantasy football league. If you haven’t read it, what are you waiting for? I just told you it’s an essential part of winning your fantasy football league! One of the best ways to maximize your weekly scoring is to stream defenses. This strategy is simple – we aren’t as concerned about good defenses, so much as finding defenses that are playing terrible offenses. Bad offenses are more likely to keep playing bad because if they knew how to be good, they would already be good. Because of this flawless logic, I will be pointing out the best streaming options on a weekly basis. Don’t you want to know the week fourteen defense to snag off the waiver wire?
Green Bay DEF (45% owned) @ Washington
Last week, the Packers were one of my top defensive streamer choices and I have decided to double down on them for two reasons. First, they are playing a Washington team that has given up the sixth-most fantasy points to opposing defenses. Second, Washington has actually won their last two games. The odds of them not completely embarrassing themselves three weeks in a row are astronomical. This week will be a reality check for Washington and a must-start for the Green Bay Packers defense.
Indianapolis DEF (35% owned) @ Tampa Bay
It is possible that Jameis Winston could end the season leading the league in both passing touchdowns and interceptions. It is that second statistic that makes the Indianapolis Colts defense an interesting play this week. The Bucs have been wildly inconsistent this year, giving up the fourth-most fantasy points to opposing fantasy defenses. After the Packers, the Colts are my favorite defensive play for week fourteen.
Los Angeles Chargers DEF (43% owned) @ Jacksonville
Honestly, this last game is more about who you feel is most likely to collapse in the most pathetic fashion. Last week, the Jacksonville Jaguars got rolled by an uninspiring Tampa Bay Buccaneers team. Nick Foles got benched for Gardner “The Mustache” Minshew. The Jaguars seem to be spiraling. On the other hand, the Chargers have dropped their last three games, including last week’s heartbreaker. The difference for me is that the Jaguars are just plain bad, whereas the Chargers are merely mediocre. I suspect this will be a bounce-back game for the Chargers, but I’d still rather start the Colts or the Packers.
