The Los Angeles Rams 2025 Fantasy Football Rookie Roundup

The Rams’ most significant offseason splash came in free agency, adding wide receiver Davante Adams to their offense. They traded back in the first round of the NFL draft to try to restock the cabinet of picks, but still managed to take three fantasy-relevant players in the draft. Let’s look at Terrance Ferguson, Jarquez Hunter & Konata Mumpfield, and their 2025 fantasy football prospects!

Rd Pick Player Pos College
2 46 Terrance Ferguson  TE Oregon
3 90 Josaiah Stewart DE Michigan
4 117 Jarquez Hunter  RB Auburn
5 148 Ty Hamilton DL Ohio State
5 172 Chris Paul Jr. LB Ole Miss
7 242 Konata Mumpfield  WR Pittsburgh

Round 2, Pick 46: Terrance Ferguson, Tight End, Oregon (6’5″, 247 lbs)

TALENT

Terrance Ferguson straight up looks the part of a tight end. He’s 6’4″ and 255, which seems to be the position’s most common height/weight combination. He’s also a good long speed runner, posting the fastest 40-yard dash at the combine. Now that we’ve gotten the superficial, measurable definitions, he’s a weird dude to watch.

To say that I was shocked at him leading at tight ends at the 40 is an understatement. He does not look nearly that fast on the field, likely because he doesn’t have a second gear. But he has huge strides, so he eats up the field when running, like Colin Kaepernick. He looked like he was jogging, but somehow he was jogging past everyone else.

As for his tight end play, Ferguson has a good nose for the holes in zone defenses. He plays up to his size in 50/50 balls and has little nimbleness after catching the ball. But he is a good pass catcher who could be a quarterback’s best friend, and his deceptive speed will give him some nice long catches.

Please don’t ask him to block, it’s no hyperbole to say he doesn’t know how to do that.

2025 OPPORTUNITY

Depth Chart:
TE1       Tyler Higbee
TE2       Terrance Ferguson
TE3       Colby Parkinson

If there’s one thing you know about me, it’s that I physically loathe “Hate Crime” Higbee as a person. He’s a nasty dude, and I don’t like him. Higbee is on the short list of people I root for to get injured.

Usually, tight ends struggle out of the gate, but that has to do with draftability in August, not how things end up in November and December. Ferguson will start the season as the TE2, and there isn’t anything there, opportunity-wise (L.A.’s 15.3% tight end target share ranked fourth-lowest in 2024).

2025 FANTASY FOOTBALL OUTLOOK

Rookie tight ends usually do nothing. Granted, Sam LaPorta and Brock Bowers bucked that trend in 2023 and 2024, respectively. But Ferguson isn’t LaPorta, nor is he Brock Bowers. While Ferguson and LaPorta went in the second round, LaPorta had nobody to beat for the TE1 role. Ferguson would have to show up to beat Higbee for the TE1 role, and I don’t anticipate that happening.

I’d keep an eye on Ferguson to see how the season develops, and I would be more than happy to add him to my roster in the case of a Higbee injury late in the season. But that’s a speculative addition, and I can’t say that I have a ton of confidence in that play.

Round 4, Pick 117: Jarquez Hunter, Running Back, Auburn (5’9″ 204 lbs)

TALENT

Jarquez Hunter had one of my big red flags: only highlight packages are available on YouTube. Hunter is a long-striding, upright runner who is challenging to bring down despite his running style. He is a natural pass catcher and knows where the defense sits once the ball is in his hands. He bounces through holes easily and is extremely fast once he gets past the first level. He’s an athletic marvel, bouncing off defenders as easily as he runs past them, or deflects the would-be tacklers. Hunter can turn any play into a touchdown, whether he’s getting it at the 50 or the 1. His speed, contact balance, soft hands, and home run hitting skills make him an intriguing fantasy football sleeper, should he make it onto a roster after the preseason.

2025 OPPORTUNITY

Depth Chart:
RB1      Kyren Williams
RB2      Blake Corum
RB3      Jarquez Hunter
RB4      Ronnie Rivers

The Rams likely have some change-of-pace packages and plays in mind for Hunter, given his big-play skills. But, he doesn’t have the type of grinder skill set to press the issue past Kyren Williams. He could make it up to RB2, over Corum, but that isn’t worth anything. Kyren Williams ranked first in running back snap share, second in running back opportunity share, and fifth in weighted opportunities. There’s simply nothing there behind Kyren Williams.

2025 FANTASY FOOTBALL OUTLOOK

Hunter is purely a handcuff running back, and he starts the season third on the depth chart. That gives him a narrow path forward to relevancy, but not one that is insurmountable. Keep an eye on him, but don’t go out of your way to add at the draft.

Round 7, Pick 242: Konata Mumpfield, Wide Receiver, Pitt (5’11”, 186 lbs)

TALENT

Watching this guy is like watching someone learn how to use the sticks in Madden on Rookie Mode while making a career as a wide receiver. His routes are everywhere; he has no rhyme or reason for what he does or where he ends up, but he gets open. If the QB decides to throw him the football, he does an insane job of adjusting to the pass and hauling it in. He could give defensive backs fits when making the league, but it could also take time for him to develop.

2025 OPPORTUNITY

Depth Chart:
WR1     Davante Adams
WR2     Puka Nacua
WR3     Tutu Atwell
WR4     Jordan Whittington
WR5     Konata Mumpfield
WR6     Xavier Smith

Mumpfield could work his way into a rotational WR3 role, as neither Tutu Atwell nor Jordan Whittington has displayed carrying traits that make them plus NFL receivers. That said, the Rams gave their WR3 (Demarcus Robinson) just 64 targets last season, with a compromised Cooper Kupp. Should Davante Adams and Puka Nacua (and, to a lesser extent, Tyler Higbee) play at full strength, there won’t be enough to go around for Mumpfield.

Mumpfield also needs a lot of seasoning, so we may never see him as he develops on the practice squad.

2025 FANTASY FOOTBALL OUTLOOK

With anti-vaxxers roaring back, you’re more likely to catch me with mumps than Mumpfield in 2025.
