2021 Myles Gaskin Fantasy Football Overview:

Myles Gaskin quietly did nothing but produce in South Beach last season. Going into 2020, we put Gaskin as a distant third to the one-two punch of Matt Breida and Jordan Howard last season. Remember those halcyon days of pretending like two marginal backs were really good? Well, Myles Gaskin cast both of those running backs aside and put himself firmly atop the Miami Dolphins heap.

Gaskin had an IR stint and a COVID stint last year, so he couldn’t hit that persistent drumbeat that would firmly affix him into our brain. But the man averaged 97 yards per game. He did this on 14.2 rushes and 4.1 catches per game. Do you want production? He ranked tenth. Do you want touches? He averaged the ninth-most touches in the NFL last year. Gaskin was a good running back and a great pass-catching running back last year. He led every single running back in yards per target, and he finished the year among your Alvins Kamara and your Jonathans Taylor in touches per game. Gaskin seemed to be cementing himself among the better running backs in the NFL.

Then we all just sort of… forgot about him. People really wanted Aaron Jones to go there (he didn’t), then they wanted Travis Etienne there (he’s a Jaguar), and now they’re worried about… Duke Johnson? Todd Gurley? Nobody is coming for this job; it’s Myles Gaskin’s. But, we haven’t adjusted our expectations from what we really wanted to happen and thought would happen. Don’t be the guy who poo-poos Myles Gaskin; there’s literally no reason to be down on Gaskin going into 2021.

2021 Myles Gaskin Fantasy Football Draft Strategy:

Myles Gaskin Auction Value: $8
Draft Ranking: Find out for your league settings in a Beersheet!

Go get Myles Gaskin and hit a home run in the fourth round. Don’t let people talk you out of him because of the nebulous running back dead zone. Sure, the fourth round brings us duds like Alex Collins, but it also brings us home runs like Jonathan Taylor. The dead zone is simply the running backs that everyone wants to forget about, or who they aren’t sure if they’re good or not yet. That second group fits Myles Gaskin to a tee. But, he’s good. He is an excellent receiving back by whatever metric you want to choose, and he’s well above-average in under-the-hood statistics like Juke Rate and Yards Per Route Run.

Best Case Scenario:

Myles Gaskin turns into baby Austin Ekeler, and you got him three rounds later. He becomes an annual second-round pick, and you soaked up all that value.

Worst Case Scenario:

The Miami Dolphins prove that they are big dumb babies and inexplicably bring in Todd Gurley and give Salvon Ahmed ten touches per game. Gaskin just returns value as RB24.
