Fantasy Football Week 9 Waiver Wire WRs (aka Wait, Is Watkins Good?) – UPDATE: Should I Pick up Sutton

Waiver Wire Wide Receiver

UPDATE: Should I Pick up Sutton

Courtland Sutton – Owned in 12% of leagues –  In week eight, I mentioned that Courtland Sutton only had value if Demaryius Thomas was traded.  Last week, Jeff Krisko had him mentioned as a sleeper for that very same reason.  And now, Ian Rappaport is saying that the Houston Texans are closing in on trading for DT.  Pay very close attention to how this situation develops.  If Thomas is traded, Courtland Sutton becomes a priority waiver acquisition. The answer to “should I pick up Cortland Sutton?” Is “Yeah!”

Week Nine Waiver Wire: QB  RB  WR  TE

Week 9 Waiver Wire WRs

Week eight is behind us and some of you are starting to appreciate that this is a passing league. Yet you keep passing on all the waiver wire value at wide receiver. Some of you thought Sammy Watkins had forgotten how to play football. And you were wrong. Some of you thought this would be the season Will Fuller survived. And you were wrong. Some of you thought fantasy football could be fun. And, oh boy, were you wrong. Lucky for you, there are waiver wire wide receiver options available to save you from yourself. If I don’t mention someone whom you think I should be talking about, just know there are many reasons why I overlooked them: Maybe they are owned in most leagues. Maybe they are so bad I don’t even consider them. Maybe it’s because your opinions cannot be trusted. After all, you are here. So let us examine what our best week 9 waiver wire WRs are.

Week 9 Waiver Wire WRs

David MooreOwned in 3% of leagues – It is time for us to take notice of David Moore.  The last couple of weeks, his production seemed like an anomaly. However, in week eight, Moore saw his snap count increase significantly.  More importantly, he led the team in targets and had 4 catches for 97 yards and 1 touchdown. His increased usage means that his four touchdowns in his last three games have not gone unnoticed by the Seahawks coaching staff. They are telling us that David Moore is going to be a significant part of this offense going forward, so he is definitely someone you should be looking at among week 9 waiver wire WRs. He is my number one waiver wire target for week nine.

DeVante ParkerOwned in 17% of leagues – With Albert Wilson and Kenny Stills hurt, the Miami Dolphins were forced to start DeVante Parker. For his part, Parker had 6 catches for 134 yards.  He showed all the talent one would expect from a former first-round draft pick. What should concern you is that the Dolphins coaching staff has been actively trying to avoid playing the physically gifted Parker and needed half of their receiving corp to die before they even considered it. I would be very hesitant to burn a waiver wire claim on DeVante Parker. And you can trust me on this because I’ve owned him before and regretted owning him.

Dontrelle InmanOwned in 0% of leagues – Just a couple of week ago, Dontrelle Inman was unemployed.  In week eight, Inman led the Colts in targets and had 6 catches for 52 yards. Inman is an interesting prospect to watch among week 9 waiver wire WRs because the Colts do not have a clear-cut number two receiver. In week eight, he was the clear number two, on the field for 74% of the Colts offensive snaps. If Inman continues to be an important part of the Colts offense, he could be a solid flex option for the second half of the fantasy football season. While I wouldn’t burn my waiver position on him this week, I would certainly keep an eye on him.

Other notable week 9 waiver wire WRs to monitor

Anthony MillerOwned in 9% of leagues  (Could be useful while Allen Robinson remains sidelined.)

Josh ReynoldsOwned in 1% of leagues (Could be useful while Cooper Kupp remains sidelined.)

Danny AmendolaOwned in 44% of leagues (Could be useful if every receiver in football remains sidelined.)
