Week Fifteen Defense Fantasy Football – When All Your Streams Have Died

week fifteen defense

It is week fourteen and you are either in do or die mode or your playoffs have started.  If you read my article on playing the waiver wire game, you know that the waiver wire is an essential part of winning your fantasy football league.  If you haven’t read it, what are you waiting for?  I just told you it’s an essential part of winning your fantasy football league!  Why do you hate winning?

One of the best ways to maximize your weekly scoring is to stream defenses.  This strategy is simple – we aren’t as concerned about good defenses, so much as finding defenses that are playing terrible offenses.  Bad offenses are more likely to keep playing bad, because if they knew how to be good, they would already be good.  Because of this flawless logic, I will be pointing out the best streaming options on a weekly basis.

New Orleans DEF (72% owned)

Just two days ago, the New Orleans Saints were owned in under 36% of leagues.  Why did that number suddenly double?  The New York Jets.  That’s why.  With Josh McCown now dead to the football world, the resurgent New Orleans Saints defense gets to square off against one of Bryce Petty or Christian Hackenberg.  It is hard not to like the Saints as the best streaming option of the week.  This should be the number one streaming target for a week fifteen defense.

Detroit DEF (57% owned)

Another sneaky good option for streaming with week is the Detroit Lions.  While they have been struggling in recent weeks, they are a team that is still in the playoff hunt.  And they are playing a Chicago Bears team that has given up the 8th most fantasy points to opposing defenses.  Last week, Chicago had a great offensive game against the Cincinnati Bengals.  I think it is worth noting that they have not put together two strong offensive performances in a row in the John Fox era.  The Detroit Lions are definitely a worthwhile week fifteen defense.

Buffalo DEF (26% owned)

If you are unable to get your hands on the New Orleans Saints defense, the Buffalo Bills are a good consolation prize.  They are playing a Miami Dolphins team that is playing on a short week.  Yeah, Jay Cutler finally had a great game this season.  And if you know anything about Jay Cutler, he is just as likely to follow that game with crushing disappointment.  The Miami Dolphins have given up the 5th most fantasy points to opposing defenses this season.  You should do much worse using the Buffalo Bills as a week fifteen defense, but you might not be able to do much better.
