We are halfway through the 2017 NFL Season and nothing has gone as expected. Just the way we like it. The only thing predictable about the NFL is how unpredictable it is. So let’s take a look at where it all went wrong for the teams with our AFC West review for the halfway point of the season.
Kansas City Chiefs (6-3)
Remember when a quarter of the way through the season, it looked like the Kansas City Chiefs were going to be the best team in football? I don’t think anyone really believed it. There was a point in time this football season that people legitimately believed that Alex Smith was an MVP candidate. The craziest part of that story is that it isn’t the craziest football story this year.
Oakland Raiders (4-5)
I think it is easy to get down on the Oakland Raiders for being a bad football team, but I’m an optimist. I think the Raiders just realized that they are going to be moving away to Las Vegas in a couple of years and they are doing everything in their power to make sure that the fans in Oakland won’t miss them.
Los Angeles Chargers (3-5)
Truth be told, I had almost forgotten that the Los Angeles Chargers were a football team until I started writing this. But as surprised as I was that the Chargers were a football team, I was not surprised that they were bad at it. Who honestly knows what the Chargers are doing? Not their front office. Definitely not the city of Los Angeles. And their fans certainly don’t know what the Chargers are doing. Nor should they.
Denver Broncos (3-5)
Trevor Siemian has been so bad at quarterback, the Denver Broncos have been forced to start Brock Osweilier. Last year, Brock Osweiler was so bad at football, the only way the Houston Texans could get rid of his contract was if they also traded away their second round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. Luckily for the Denver Broncos, the only thing Trevor Siemian cost them was football games.
