Facts from the NFL Week 7

Fact: It’s super easy to smile when you don’t play the Patriots until December

Week 7 wasn’t quite as exciting as in previous weeks, but the facts from the NFL are just as solid:

  • The Arizona Cardinals could do little to decrease the Rams lead in England: The Cards only got the ball three times in the second half. (Source)
  • Dallas had to have their safety kick extra points and kickoffs after placekicker Dan Bailey went down with an injury. Safety Jeff Heath went 2 for 3 on extra points, and even booted a kickoff into the end zone. (Source: ATN podcast)
  • The Colts were shut out for the first time since 1993. Impressive, until you consider that the Broncos were shut out for the first time since 1992. The Cardinals were last shut out in 2012. (Source)
  • Le’Veon Bell had another 35 carry game. That makes 3 times in the last 4 games that Bell has gotten at least 32 carries.
  • The Chicago-Carolina tilt featured no offensive scoring, save for a field goal for each side. Mitch Trubisky won another game with single-digit completions, this time hitting just four passes to become the first non-injured starter to win with less than five completions since Tebow did it in 2011. Dolphins players get angry at Jets players for not injuring Jay Cutler sooner
  • The Jets have blown 14-point leads in back-to-back Sundays. Dolphins have come back from 14+ point deficits to win each of their past two games.
  • Stephen Hauschka has made 12 straight field goals from 50+ yards. Four other kickers have done this feat, and all are active (Justin Tucker, Matt Prater, Blair Walsh, Robbie Gould). (Source)
  • Browns tackle Joe Thomas left in the third quarter, ending an 11-year streak of never missing a snap.
  • After not seeing a shutout in the first six weeks, the NFL had three in week 7. The last year which had a week with three shutouts was 2012. (Source)
  • The Los Angeles Rams have won 5 of their last 7 games. The last time the Rams took 5 out of 7 was 2003, coincidentally the last year they finished with a winning record. (Source)

Suffice to say Los Angeles will not see the spike in hard liquor sales that St. Louis did
