Week 12 QB Sleepers – L’Amour Lamar

Week 12 QB Sleepers – L’Amour Lamar

Welcome, Jared Goff and Patrick Mahomes owners! Hello, fools who believed Ryan Fitzpatrick was the answer! Football Absurdity’s week 12 QB sleepers list highlights three guys available in over 50% of Yahoo! leagues (as of writing, Wednesday morning). For those of you in deeper leagues, the third one of these week 12 QB sleepers is available in at least 90% of Yahoo! leagues.

Baker Mayfield at Cincinnati (49% owned)

Baby Baker the Touchdown Maker, My Adult Son, you shall soon grow too large for the QB sleepers list. Until then, you stay at home where you’re warm and comfy. Mayfield posted his best fantasy football game as a pro last week, throwing for 216 yards and three scores while chipping in 20 yards on the ground. It was his first game with three touchdowns, and just his second full game without an interception. This week he gets a Bengals squad that let Lamar Jackson run all over them last week, and who has given up at least 16.5 fantasy points to quarterbacks in one game this year. I’ll miss you, Baker, and Godspeed.

Lamar Jackson versus Oakland (31% owned)

As a quarterback, Lamar Jackson was not great last week. Any QB who runs the ball 27 times isn’t exactly doing things as Peyton Manning would. Also, given that he ended the day with 150 yards passing, no touchdowns and an interception also give you an idea as to how his day went as a QB. As a fantasy QB, and as a perfect player for this week 12 QB sleepers piece, though? Lamar Jackson was on fire. He rushed for 117 yards, which was the fantasy point equivalent of throwing for 292.5 yards on top of his 150 yards. Never forget The Multiplier, where rushing yards are worth 2.5x as much as passing yards. That’s the key to Jackson’s success moving forward. Also, a key to his success is facing a Raiders team that is physically incapable of stopping an opposing QB from styling on them. Every QB except Case Keenum has thrown for at least two touchdowns against the Raiders, and four of the last five have thrown three touchdowns. The only question, and it’s a big one, is if Joe Flacco is back. John Harbaugh is coaching for his life, and Lamar Jackson led them to victory last week, so expect Flacco to stay on the shelf again this week.

Nick Mullens at Tampa Bay (9% owned)

We first saw Nick Mullens when he styled all over the Raiders on an island game on Thursday Night Football before vomiting all over himself on an island game against the Giants on Monday Night Football. Performing poorly against the Giants isn’t a sin, either (they’re sixteenth in fantasy points allowed to opposing QBs). This week, he gets a Tampa Bay team in shambles; a TB team that has allowed at least 17 fantasy points to every quarterback they have played who is still active (RIP Nick Foles and Alex Smith). Mullens might vomit all over himself, or he might throw three touchdowns again. There’s only one way to find out, and that’s to scoop him up and kick back, happy with your knowledge of week 12 QB sleepers. Well, I mean you could make the prudent start and sit call and wait for a third data point to see a trend, but where’s the fun in that?
