Week 9 Fantasy Football TE Sleepers – Drink the Braterade

Waiver Wire Tight End
Week 9 TE Sleepers – Drink the Braterade

Every week at Football Absurdity, we hope to provide you with actionable fantasy football advice. Whether it’s our weekly waiver wire pieces, or our start/sit guides, or our sleepers pieces. We are here to try to make sure that you do whatever you can to transfer blame for losing from your decisions onto us, as the advice-givers. It’s okay, we’re big boys, we can take it. The sleepers pieces outline players at every position each week who are available in at least 50% of Yahoo! leagues for you to snatch up. We have been around enough fantasy football players to know that people like to brag and boast about how our TE sleepers are not available in their league (weird flex, but okay). For those guys, we offer players available in at least 90% of Yahoo! leagues. If those guys can’t help you, may we offer you a position here at Football Absurdity to dispense advice?

Week 9 TE Sleeper: Cameron Brate at Carolina (29% owned)

Cam Brate has fallen off the face of the earth with the demise of Ryan Fitzpatrick. Now, Fitzpatrick is back, and Brate will be the beneficiary. Brate missed the first game and was limited for the second game. In weeks three and four, Brate had an increased red zone target share and scored in both weeks. Jameis took over, and Brate disappeared off the face of the earth. Now Brate (and cohort O.J. Howard) get the worst fantasy defense against tight ends (15.79 fantasy points per game) to give those of us looking for week 9 TE sleepers a respite from the pain of searching.

Week 9 TE Sleeper: Ed Dickson versus the Los Angeles Chargers (15% owned)

Technically, Ed Dickson is just 0.1 fantasy points away from being the #3 tight end on a points-per-game basis this season. In reality, Ed Dickson has just two targets on the season after returning from injury last week. Luckily, he turned that into 54 yards and a score last week against the Lions. For me, the Dickson hype has little to do with the player, and more to do with a crumbling offense around him looking for a Jimmy Graham replacement. This week, he gets a Chargers squad that has allowed three tight end touchdowns in their last four games. A guy with two targets on the season shows you just how exactly dire the situation is for week 9 TE sleepers.

Week 9 TE Sleeper: Chris Herndon at Miami (10% owned)

He came through last week for us in our week 8 TE sleepers list. He didn’t quite put up the 40+ yard games he put up the two weeks prior, but he came through with a touchdown and ended up as a top-fifteen tight end last week. This week, he gets a Miami defense that has fallen apart over the last month and has yielded five touchdowns to tight ends over the last three weeks. Keep it rolling with Herndon this week.
