Week 9 Fantasy Football RB Sleepers – Throw the Booker at Them

Waiver Wire Sleeper Running Backs
Week 9 RB Sleepers – Throw the Booker at Them

Every week at Football Absurdity, we hope to provide you with actionable fantasy football advice. Whether it’s our weekly waiver wire pieces, or our start/sit guides, or our sleepers pieces. We are here to try to make sure that you do whatever you can to transfer blame for losing from your decisions onto us, as the advice-givers. It’s okay, we’re big boys, we can take it. The sleepers pieces outline players at every position each week who are available in at least 50% of Yahoo! leagues for you to snatch up. We have been around enough fantasy football players to know that people like to brag and boast about how our RB sleepers are not available in their league (weird flex, but okay). For those guys, we offer players available in at least 90% of Yahoo! leagues. If those guys can’t help you, may we offer you a position here at Football Absurdity to dispense advice?

Week 9 RB Sleeper: Frank Gore versus the New York Jets (27% owned)

Frank Gore may be taking a back seat to Kenyan Drake going forward, but at the same time, can you trust that to happen? He had 101 yards three weeks ago against Chicago and has notched double-digit carries in five-straight games. This week he gets a Jets defense that allows the thirteenth-highest yards-per-carry in the league. Gore is a straight bye week fill-in. He should get you at least five points this week, and you’re hoping for a touchdown. He’s older than Hades, but you’re desperate as hell. It’s a match made in heaven if you’re selling your soul to satan for week 9 RB sleepers.

Week 9 RB Sleeper: Devontae Booker versus Houston (16% owned)

It’s looking exceptionally unlikely that Royce Freeman will return for the Broncos in week nine, which means more of the Devontae Booker show. The Broncos use a two-back system, almost to a fault. Booker notched thirteen touches last week, which is a good indication of his workload going forward. Last week, he turned those touches into 101 yards last week against the Chiefs. While the Texans aren’t the Chiefs, they have given up six double-digit fantasy point games to running backs in the last six games. He won’t be useful for long, but while he is, keep him on your list of week 9 RB sleepers.

Week 9 RB Sleeper: Elijah McGuire at Miami (9% owned)

Bilal Powell is dead, long live the heir apparent to Bilal Powell. He made his way back from injury this week, getting activated from IR ahead of their AFC East matchup. Before he broke his foot, Manish Mehta, who covers the Jets, projected him ahead of Bilal Powell as the third-down and change of pace back. McGuire was getting a ton of sophomore breakout buzz prior to his injury and looks to be ready to pop straight into a usable number of touches this week. He does it against a Dolphins defense that has allowed 5.9 yards-per-carry over the last three games. On the season, they dole out the third-most fantasy points to opposing running backs. The streaming running back landscape redefines bleak, so the first game from a guy off a broken foot is the best you can do down here. They’ve given up ten double-digit fantasy games to running backs in their first eight weeks.
