Fantasy Football Week 7 QB Sleepers – A Darnold, A Baker, An Elite QB Faker

Fantasy Football Week 7 QB Sleepers

After this week, everyone will be at least halfway done with the fantasy football regular season. This is also the fourth bye week that will leave us without some solid fantasy football starters. If your starter is missing, benched or injured, we are here with some QB sleepers to help you out. These QB sleepers are available in at least 50% of Yahoo! leagues. For you guys who like to pump your chest out and exclaim “that guy’s available? How can I be in your league?” there is a player available in at least 90% of Yahoo! leagues. Ownership figures are as of Friday afternoon.

QB Sleeper: Baker Mayfield at Tampa Bay (40% owned)

I hyped Baker last week, and he was… not too great. He completed fewer than 50% of his passes and ended up with more interceptions than touchdowns. This week should be different, as he continued his trend of chucking the ball 40+ times a game. This week, he’ll be throwing against literally the worst defense at stopping opposing fantasy football quarterbacks from doing whatever they want. They have given up three or more passing touchdowns in four-of-five games this season, and every single QB has thrown for at least 334 passing yards against them. They’re just godawful, which will turn Baker Mayfield into Baker… TD…Field. Yeah. That’s it. (Or should I go with Manly Baker the Touchdown Maker?)

QB Sleeper: Joe Flacco versus New Orleans (40% owned)

Joe Flacco started the season on a roll, averaging a hair under 20 fantasy points per contest in 4 point per passing touchdown leagues. Everything kind of fell apart for fantasy owners of Joe Flacco last week because the Ravens defense was too dominating, and the Titans defense played well. This week, neither of those things should be a problem as the Ravens take on the high-flying New Orleans Saints. For all the talk of how the Saints should be great on defense this year, they give up the third-most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season. They can be torched deep, which explains why pop gun arms like Tyrod Taylor, Eli Manning, and Alex Smith did not burn them but funslingers like Ryan Fitzpatrick and Matt Ryan torched them. Joe Flacco is one of the funslingiest QBs of the last decade and should light up this Saints defense.

DEEP QB SLEEPER: Sam Darnold versus Minnesota (9% owned)

This seems sort of counter-intuitive since the Minnesota defense is very good. The only thing is that they are still in the top-ten in terms of fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks. They crushed Jimmy G week one, but since then, only Josh Rosen and his now-fired-OC Mike McCoy totaled fewer than 16 fantasy points against them. Jared Goff, Carson Wentz, and even the woeful Josh Allen all lit them up for at least 21 fantasy points over the last four weeks. Darnold is rounding into shape, totaling five touchdowns and two picks over the last two games.
