Fantasy Football Week Five TE Sleepers – Seals of Approval

Fantasy Football Week Five TE Sleepers

Week five finds the Buccaneers and the Bears on Bye, which means many of us will be without Trey Burton and Cameron Brate. That leaves a lot of room in a lot of leagues to try to fill in with one or more TE sleepers. We at Football Absurdity like to help separate the wheat from the chaff and bring you only the prime choice TE sleepers each week. To make this list, the TE sleepers are available in over 50% of Yahoo! leagues, with one of the TE sleepers available in over 90% of leagues. Ownership percentages are as of Wednesday afternoon after waivers have run.

Ricky Seals-Jones versus San Francisco (26% owned)
Unlike Arizona hotel bathroom access, my love for RSJ knows no bounds. But the anemic Cardinals pass offense did him wrong through the first three games of the season. Rosen seems to be an upgrade over Sammy Checkdowns, and RSJ was the primary benefactor last week. His 52 yards led the team, and he gets a good defense to exploit this week. The Niners allow the fifth-most fantasy points to tight ends so far this year, and they’ve yielded either a touchdown or 110+ yards to five tight ends already this season.

C.J. Uzomah versus Miami (16% owned)
Sometimes all a player needs is an opportunity. While Tyler Kroft has been the backup Cinci tight end when Tyler Eifert went down, Uzomah seems to be the better player. He’s out-snapped Kroft so far this year and looks far better on tape than Kroft ever did. Kroft’s primary ability was availability in the past, and Uzomah seems to have passed him in talent. The Dolphins are not a great matchup, but that mostly is due to a lack of touchdowns.

Nick Vannett versus Rams (2% owned)
Scrape, scrape, scrape that barrel! Vannett takes over for the dearly departed Will Dissly after Dissly tore his patellar tendon last week. He takes on a Rams team that is a tight end funnel, and a Rams team that made Jared Cook look good in week one. The defensive backfield is a mess, and it’s not like one-legged Doug Baldwin will be able to do it all on his own (with his sidekick Brandon “Stonehands” Marshall in tow). The Tight End is an important part of the Seahawks passing game, and Vannett is the next man up.
