Fantasy Football: Week Thirteen Waiver Wire Wide Receivers aka Where There’s A Waiver

Last week, I worried that the waiver wire wide receivers were thinning out.  This week, I’m feeling a bit more optimistic.  While needing a wide receiver this late into the season isn’t ideal, there are some nice bargains available that can help you get by.  So let’s take a look at the waiver wire wide receiver options in week thirteen.

Jermaine KearseOwned in 39% of leagues – At some point, we have to accept that the New York Jets passing game is a worthwhile fantasy football investment.  And Jermaine Kearse has been a WR3 for much of the season in points per reception leagues.  Sometimes when targeting a receiver in fantasy football, it is important to remember that just because they are bad at football, that doesn’t mean they can’t be good at fantasy football.  I cannot think of a more appropriate epitaph for Jermaine Kearse.

Zay JonesOwned in 14% of leagues – Over his last three starts, Zay Jones has started to show signs about why he was a preseason darling.  In that span, he has 13 catches for 154 yards and 2 touchdowns.  I also like his chances of increasing his productivity moving forward, with a very soft defensive schedule down the stretch.  While I would not burn my waiver position on him, I would consider picking him up as a free agent once he clears waivers.

Corey Coleman – Owned in 40% of leagues –Since coming back from Injured Reserve two weeks ago, Corey Coleman has been targeted nineteen times.  Coleman might be the best receiving option available on the waiver wire.  He is the best receiver on a Cleveland Browns team that is always going to be playing from behind.  He is a prime candidate for garbage-time points.  Personally, I think he is a must-own for the rest of the season.
