Fantasy Football: Start or Sit Tyler Kroft in Week Twelve?

At this point it feels like every other week I have to recommend starting Tyler Kroft, Tyler Kroft sits at below 50% fantasy football ownership, and Tyler Kroft goes out there and ends the week with either seventy yards or a score. Kroft isn’t a weekly starter and is definitely mostly a matchup play at this point. He’s still playing the role of a poor man’s Tyler Eifert in an inconsistent Cincinnati Bengals offense. Last week I wrote all about Kroft and his production. At that point, he had at least five targets in four-of-six games, and while that didn’t maintain last week (just three targets), he did get you a touchdown and twelve yards, hitting the magical seven points you’re looking for as a base level TE1. This week he gets an amazing matchup to take full advantage of all the targets sent his way.

The Cleveland Browns are one of the best defenses to stream your fantasy football tight ends against this season. They currently sit fourth in fantasy points per game to the position. That was number one with a bullet for almost half the season, but some impressive ineptitudes have had others bubble up around them. That isn’t to say the Browns haven’t continued their own impressive display of ineptitude against tight ends. They’ve allowed tight ends to score in three straight games, and they have given up at least seven fantasy points to a tight end in six of their last seven games. This includes a two-touchdown effort from Kroft way back in week four. In short: they stink against tight ends.

Tyler Kroft continues to sit at an unusually low ownership percentage given the extreme predictability of his good games. This week is one such game. Kroft has plenty of targets in this offense to get seventy-five yards and/or a score. He also plays against a godawful defense this week. The Browns bleed fantasy points to the tight end, and with his target volume, they’ll bleed fantasy points to Tyler Kroft this weekend. Get him in your lineups if you have him or if you’re thinking about streaming him.
