Week Seven: Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Wide Receiver aka Wide Receivers Aren’t Always What They Seem

We are six weeks through the football season and you still haven’t figured out which wide receivers are good at fantasy football.  Just because someone is a good fantasy football receiver doesn’t mean they have to actually be good at football.  This trips people up every year.  In multiple leagues, there are double digit top fifty receivers still available on the waiver wire.  So let’s take a look at who the best waiver wire wide receiver options for week seven are.

Robert Woods  – Owned in 8% of leagues – Last week, Robert Woods had 5 catches for 70 yards against one of the best pass defenses in football.  He is the Los Angeles Rams leading receiver on the season.  Moreover, he is 18th in receiving yards, he is 32nd in targets and 33rd in receptions.  He is a legitimate WR3, but nobody realizes it because his name is Robert Woods.

John BrownOwned in 44% of leagues – For the last three weeks, John Brown has been getting a lot of looks in the Arizona offense.  This week, he had 3 catches for 63 yards and 1 touchdown.  More importantly he has remained relatively healthy throughout the time period.  When healthy, he is a very solid WR3 option with WR2 upside and should absolutely be owned.

Jermaine KearseOwned in 6% of leagues – There is no getting around the fact that Jermaine Kearse appears to be the number one receiver on the New York Jets.  At the beginning of the season, that would have sounded a lot less impressive, but the 3-3 Jets have made Kearse a top 20 receiving in receptions and top 30 receiver in yards.  Unfortunately, he still remains Jermaine Kearse, so it’s hard to trust him.  But he should be owned.
