2021 James Robinson Player Profile

As we gear up to the start of the NFL season, Football Absurdity is going to bring you a comprehensive breakdown of every notable player that will be available in fantasy football drafts. You know that thing where the actress playing a sitcom mom gets replaced? That’s what’s happening with James Robinson and Travis Etienne, except both sitcom moms are onscreen at the same time and it is awkward and makes no sense.

2021  James Robinson Overview

Robinson was the waiver wire darling of 2021, ending up RB7 despite missing 2 games. However, Jacksonville drafting Travis Etienne in the first round caused Robinson’s stock to drop faster than the barometric pressure just dropped outside, here. There’s actually a tornado warning for my area. But I’m on deadline so I’m going to keep writing. Besides, I’ll be fine: I’m holed up in my family barn #justKansasthings.

Back to James Robinson: His fantasy stock isn’t worthless, however. New Jags coach Urban Meyer has a history of leaning on the run. Plus, they will probably want to ease Trevor Lawrence into a heavier workload as the season goes on. So Robinson becomes an attractive later-round option. Looks like a pipe must have burst in my basement. I’ll look into it later, I’m on deadline. Besides, the water is only up to my knees.

2021  James Robinson Fantasy Football Draft Strategy:

Auction Value: $5
Draft Ranking: Find out for your league settings in a Beersheet!

If your redraft league is drafting now, perhaps because you are all getting deployed next week to Afghanistan, don’t take Robinson until a double-digit round. His end-of-the-sixth-round ADP is bizarre considering he might have zero fantasy usage. What is going to get usage is this new lightning rod I’ve assembled, looks like an electrical storm is rolling in. I’ll put it up after this article, though, I’m on a deadline.

In auction, I’ve done dozens of mock drafts full of actual humans. Half the time Robinson goes for $5 or less. That’s the right value. Half the time he goes for $13 or more. That money could be better spent elsewhere, like getting a top 5 tight end and milking that positional advantage. Another positional advantage is held by giant, flying robots, who seem to be invading in my area. Oh, well, deadline and all that.

Best Case Scenario:

You get Robinson late and he becomes half of a two-headed monster. Pro Football Focus ranks Jacksonville’s O-line 22nd in the league, though, so don’t expect a Kareem Hunt situation, here.

Worst Case Scenario:

You pay too much for Robinson and he doesn’t do anything. Like, at all. Urban Meyer is unpredictable. Like these flying robots.
