Streaming Defenses Fantasy Football Week 8: If I Die, I Die

If you read my article on playing the waiver wire game, you know that it is an essential part of winning your fantasy football league. If you haven’t read it, what are you waiting for? I just told you it’s an essential part of winning your fantasy football league! Why do you hate winning? One of the best ways to maximize your weekly scoring is to stream defenses. This strategy is simple: we aren’t as concerned about good defenses, so much as finding defenses that are playing terrible offenses. Bad offenses are more likely to keep playing bad because if they knew how to be good, they would already be good. Because of this flawless logic, I will be pointing out the best streaming defenses on a weekly basis.

Streaming Defenses Option #1: Los Angeles Chargers Defense (59% rostered) @ Denver Broncos

The Los Angeles Chargers are not available in a majority of leagues, but if they are available in your league, you need to grab them. Like right now. The Broncos are the ideal fantasy matchup, providing a high floor and a high ceiling. Denver’s offense has scored the fifth-fewest points in the NFL, giving the Chargers a reasonable score. However, Denver is so bad that one in every five of their offensive drives ends in a turnover. This is why they have given up the most fantasy points to opposing defenses.  The Los Angeles Chargers are a top-five fantasy defense in week eight.

Streaming Defenses Option #2: Tennessee Titans Defense (27% rostered) @ Cincinnati Bengals

What happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object? This is a question that does not need to be answered in week eight when the Tennessee Titans play the Cincinnati Bengals. While Jadaveon Clowney might be an unstoppable force on the Titans defensive line, the Bengals offensive line is very moveable. The Bengals are so moveable that they have given up the most sacks on any NFL team. Add to that the fact that they have given up the sixth-most fantasy points to opposing defenses and the Titans should be on your radar if you need to stream a defense.

Streaming Defenses Option #3: Green Bay Packers Defense (18% rostered) @ Minnesota Vikings

When the Minnesota Vikings traded defensive end Yannick Ngakoue to the Baltimore Ravens, they announced to the world that they, like the rest of us, are giving up on 2020. Most of us knew the Vikings season was over in week one when the Green Bay Packers defense put up a top-ten fantasy performance on defense. Enter week eight and who are the Vikings playing? You guessed it, the Green Bay Packers. In week one, the Packers had two sacks, one interception, and a safety. Will the Packers be able to duplicate their week one performance? Considering the Vikings have given up the seventh-most fantasy points to opposing defenses, it is a pretty safe bet.
