Start or Sit Justin Herbert, Gardner Minshew, or Teddy Bridgewater in Fantasy Football Week 7?

Gardner Minshew Quarterback Tiers start or sit

If you don’t have one of the top-tier quarterbacks on your fantasy roster, it is easy to worry about who you should start. Lucky for you, the only thing more important than a good quarterback on your roster is a good match-up. In week seven, there are a lot of quarterbacks you could start that might not seem like the obvious choice to start, but have the ability to win you your week. This week, we will be asking if you should start or sit Justin Herbert, Gardner Minshew, or Teddy Bridgewater.

Start or Sit Justin Herbert versus Jacksonville

Joe Burrow might have been the number one pick in the 2020 NFL draft, but Justin Herbert is the number one quarterback in our hearts. Since the Chargers’ team doctor popped Tyrod Taylor’s lung, Herbert has been turning heads in the fantasy community.

Justin Herbert averages 299 passing yards a game since taking over the starting job from Tyrod. He’s scored seven touchdowns and totaled over 550 yards over his last two games. And most important of all, coming off their bye week, the Los Angeles Chargers are playing a Jacksonville Jaguars defense that has given up the seventh-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. All signs say to start Justin Herbert.

Start or Sit Gardner Minshew versus Los Angeles Chargers

Sometimes a man comes along with a schedule so soft that you cannot help but start him, regardless of talent. That man is Gardner Minshew. At this point, he is the QB12 on the season, but we still have no idea if he is good. I’m here to tell you… who cares? You don’t have to be good at football to be good at fantasy football.

If you watched Jacksonville play the Lions in week six, you probably should not be reading this article until your eyes stop bleeding. The Jaguars were absolute trash. That didn’t stop Minshew from throwing for 243 yards, putting up 2 total touchdowns and 2 total turnovers. A lot of that was in garbage time. But, as another former Jaguar QB taught us, garbage time stats are real.

In week seven, Minshew plays a Los Angeles Chargers defense that is giving up the third-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. Combine that matchup with a Jacksonville defense that hasn’t stopped anyone this year, and you will definitely want to start Gardner Minshew in what promises to be a shootout.

Start or Sit Teddy Bridgewater versus New Orleans

People pumping the brakes on Teddy Bridgewater after his paltry 216 yards passing and 2 interceptions need to calm down. Bridgewater played a Chicago Bears defense that has given up the second-fewest fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. Teddy wasn’t supposed to have a strong week six.

Teddy Bridgewater’s week seven matchup is the reason you should have been stashing him. In week seven, Bridgewater will be playing a New Orleans defense that has given up the fourth-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. What makes this matchup even more exciting is that in four of its five games, the quarterback who has played the Saints has finished in the top-ten. The worst performance against this passing defense has been QB14. If you have the option to start Teddy Bridgewater in week seven, you start Teddy Bridgewater.

Who to Prioritize?

Now that we have the quarterbacks to start, the question is how do we rank them.  Number one on this list has to be Teddy Bridgewater. New Orleans defense seems to allow for both a high-floor and a high-ceiling performance, which makes him the safest best.  After that, I’m rolling with Justin Herbert. While Gardner Minshew has the better matchup, Justin Herbert is on the better team and coming off a bye week, I like Herbert just a teeny bit more than I do Minshew. No matter which quarterback you go with, you are putting your fantasy roster in a position to win.
