Should I Start or Sit DeAndre Washington, Boston Scott, or Royce Freeman in Week 16?

As the 2019 fantasy football season comes to an end, I wanted to thank everyone who took a couple of minutes out of their day to read these articles. We’ve made some good calls, and some terrible calls, but in the end, we had a lot of fun. We hope you also had some fun following along. This will be our final entry for the 2019 NFL season (except if I do like a “final thoughts” thing, where I give out our final scores for the season and ramble on about fantasy and life in general, probably in the lull between Championship Sunday and the Super Bowl. Yeah that sounds about right). Without further ado, here our are Week 16 Start/Sit running backs!

Week 16 Start or Sit Picks

Start or Sit DeAndre Washington at Los Angeles Chargers Week 16

Bryan’s Take: Rookie phenom, Josh Jacobs has already been ruled out for Week 16, opening the door for Washington to get another start. When Jacobs missed the Raiders’ Week 14 game vs. the Titans, Washington racked up 96 total yards and a score on 20 touches. The Chargers’ defense is arguably worse than the Titans’ crew, and gave up two rushing TDs to Mike Boone last week. Washington caught six passes in Week 14, so he should give you a decent floor this week, and may even get into the end zone. Start DeAndre Washington in Week 16.

Erin’s Take: I think “DeAndre Washington” is a great name. It’s bold, distinctive, and sounds like the perfect Hollywood name for a football player. It’s remarkably similar to LL Cool J’s character, “Julian Washington,” in Any Given Sunday. Start DeAndre Washington in Week 16.

Start or Sit Boston Scott vs. Dallas Cowboys Week 16

Bryan’s Take:  It looks like Jordan Howard will continue to sit out in Week 16, making Scott the de facto #2 to Miles Sanders. Over the last two games, Scott has 193 total yards and has been targeted 13 times, catching all of them. He does appear to be a solid flex start in a PPR league. However, this game has major playoff implications for both teams. The Eagles are playing for their NFL lives, while the Cowboys could lock up the NFC East with a win. Nothing is going to come easy in this one, and the Eagles would be best served to feed their top playmakers, of which Boston Scott is not one. Sit Boston Scott in Week 16.

Erin’s Take: I love Boston so much. The city, that is. It may be my 2nd favorite place to visit besides New Orleans. So already, I’ve got a huge soft spot for a player named “Boston.” On top of that, one of my best friends’ sons is also named “Boston.” There’s just too much sentiment here for me to overlook. Start Boston Scott in Week 16.

Start or Sit Royce Freeman vs. Detroit Lions Week 16

Bryan’s Take: To put it bluntly, Freeman needs to score to be of any value to you. Especially since the Broncos have made it clear that Phillip Lindsay is their #1 RB. The Lions have a fairly sturdy run defense and rank 6th in the NFL in yards per attempt with 4.0. They’re usually playing from behind, leading to disproportionate rushing attempts from their opponents. That may not be the case this week, as the Broncos don’t provide much of an offensive threat, and could end up spinning their wheels all day. Sit Royce Freeman in Week 16.

Erin’s Take: The only other “Royce” I know is an obscure character from a flashback in one of the Twilight movies. So, the only connection I can make here is with a fictitious, creepy, violent, sexual predator from the 1920s. Not a great look. Sit Royce Freeman in Week 16.

Final Ranks
