Week Twelve Defense Fantasy Football – All The Bad Offenses

oakland raiders week twelve defense streamers

If you read my article on playing the waiver wire game, you know that it is an essential part of winning your fantasy football league.  If you haven’t read it, what are you waiting for?  I just told you it’s an essential part of winning your fantasy football league!  Why do you hate winning? Don’t you want a good week twelve defense?

One of the best ways to maximize your weekly scoring is to stream defenses.  This strategy is simple – we aren’t as concerned about good defenses, so much as finding defenses that are playing terrible offenses.  Bad offenses are more likely to keep playing bad because if they knew how to be good, they would already be good.  Because of this flawless logic, I will be pointing out the best streaming options on a weekly basis.

Week Twelve Defense Streamer: Oakland DEF (41% owned) @ New York Jets

Nothing gets me more excited for a fantasy defense than seeing that they will be playing the Jets.  Even the fact that it is the Raiders playing them doesn’t deter me from feeling good.  The Jets are a dumpster fire of a team that has only scored more than 20 points on offense three times.  The fact that they won last week only makes me feel better about this matchup because the odds of them putting together three consecutive wins seem astronomical.  Considering the Jets have given up the most fantasy points to opposing defenses, I’m surprised they are coming off back to back wins.

Week Twelve Defense Streamer: Cleveland DEF (49% owned) @ Miami

If the Jets didn’t exist, we would be talking about how amazing it is that the Cleveland Browns get to play this putrid Miami team.  The key difference between these two teams is that Miami is actively trying to lose games this year, but there is only a one-game difference in the standings between the Dolphins and the Jets.  Miami has given up the second-most fantasy points to opposing defenses.  And while Cleveland is a better defense on paper, the only reason I haven’t rated them higher than the Raiders is that Myles Garrett won’t be available to try beating Ryan Fitzpatrick to death with his own football helmet.  That seriously hinders Cleveland’s long-term projections.

Week Twelve Defense Streamer: Detroit DEF (13% owned) @ Washington

On the off chance that neither Cleveland nor Oakland are available, there is always the Detroit Lions.  They are playing a very mediocre Washington team in week twelve.  There are some positives and negatives that go with streaming the Lions this week.  The positives are simple: Washington is really bad at offensive football.  Over their last four games, they are giving up an average of 4 sacks and 1 turnover a game.  They have given up the sixth-most fantasy points to opposing defenses.  The negatives are you would have to start the Detroit Lions.  And let’s be real.  If the Lions end up sucking, you will just end up feeling like you should have known better.
