Start or Sit Matt Ryan, Kyler Murray, or Ryan Tannehill in Week 8?

Should I Start Matt Ryan, Kyler Murray, or Ryan Tannehill in Week 8?

This year, for start-or-sit advice, I’ve decided to share my wife’s fantasy football “insight” with the world. We will be looking at some sticky fantasy football start or sit decisions each week, and each of us will tell you whether or not you should rock ’em or sock ’em. I will use mostly statistical analysis, with just a touch of gut feeling. Erin will use whatever thing she uses to tell you how each player’s name speaks to her.

First, A Quick Week 7 Recap…
Scoring System: 1 point for good advice, 0 points for neutral advice, -1 point for bad advice (Deciding if the outcome is good, neutral, or bad is 100% subjective and non-negotiable)

Week 8 Start or Sit Picks:

Start or Sit Matt Ryan vs. Seattle Seahawks Week 8

Bryan’s Take: Ryan was seen in a walking boot after last week’s game, but, as of this writing, he is expected to play Sunday. Let’s face it, if he plays, you’re absolutely starting him. In the two games before last week’s flop, Ryan threw 7 TDs and only 1 INT. He was fire, and the Seahawks’ mediocre-at-best pass defense shouldn’t pose much of an obstacle. Start Matt Ryan week 8, if he plays.

Start or Sit Matt Ryan vs. Seattle Seahawks Week 8

Erin’s Take: Two first names reminds me of two guys I went to high school with: Cooper Eddie and Eddie Cooper. I used to think that was so weird! I don’t think Matt Ryan is weird. He sounds like a character from Mission: Impossible. Start Matt Ryan week 8.

Start or Sit Kyler Murray at New Orleans Saints Week 8

Bryan’s Take: The Kyler Clown from Outer Space was mostly unneeded last week, because Chase Edmonds was busy ripping off three 20 yard TD runs. The good news for the rookie QB is that he has not thrown an INT in three straight games. The stealthy bad news is he’s only thrown three TDs over that span. That’s not bad, right? Well… all three came in Week 6. Another way to say it is he’s had zero passing TDs in two of his last three games. He’s still got an extraordinarily high ceiling, and I trust him to bounce back against the Saints. Start Kyler Murray week 8.

Erin’s Take: Kyler. Not Kyle Not Tyler. Kyler. I like it. It kind of reminds me of Kylo Ren, and I enjoy the more uncommon names. Probably because my kids have some of the most basic names out there. Start Kyler Murray week 8.

Start or Sit Ryan Tannehill vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Week 8

Bryan’s Take: Truth be told, I can’t believe I’m writing about Ryan Tannehill in 2019. But when you’re backing up perennial let-down Marcus Mariota, anything is possible! What’s more surprising is Tannehill played WELL! He was efficient, decisive, accurate… In short, he looked like a real life NFL QB. Can he do it again against hardly-arguably the league’s worst passing defense? Seriously, the Buccaneers are giving up over 300 passing yards per game. That’s their AVERAGE. Now, I’m not saying Tannehill is going to have a Week 7 Aaron Rodgers type performance, but I wouldn’t be surprised by another 300/2 game.  I can’t believe I’m recommending to start Ryan Tannehill week 8.

Erin’s Take: I imagine Ryan Tannehill was a super popular jock in high school, and someone that all the girls wanted to date. It’s just not for me. Sit Ryan Tannehill week 8.

Final Ranks

Bryan: Matt Ryan > Kyler Murray > Ryan Tannehill

Erin: Kyler Murray > Matt Ryan > Ryan Tannehill
