Start or Sit Jarvis Landry, Deebo Samuel, or Mecole Hardman in Week 5?

Should I Start Jarvis Landry, Deebo Samuel, or Mecole Hardman in Week 5?

This year, for start-or-sit advice, I’ve decided to share my wife’s fantasy football “insight” with the world. We will be looking at some sticky fantasy football start or sit decisions each week, and each of us will tell you whether or not you should rock ’em or sock ’em. I will use mostly statistical analysis, with just a touch of gut feeling. Erin will use whatever thing she uses to tell you if the name speaks to her.

Start or Sit Jarvis Landry at San Francisco 49ers week 5

Bryan’s Take: Landry had a monster day in Week 4, snagging eight balls for 167 yards. Meanwhile, across the turf, Odell Beckham Jr. was busy doing nothing. I’m wondering if this Baker Mayfield led offense can feed more than one receiver… Either way, I don’t see any reason why Landry won’t see 10+ targets again in this one. That is, unless his concussion keeps him out of the lineup. I’m hoping the extra day of rest will help him get right, but keep an eye on that before setting your lineup. Start Jarvis Landry week 5.

Erin’s Take: I don’t like that name. I’m reminded of a balding, older man, whose parents were forced to name him after a long lost family member. Sit Jarvis Landry week 5.

Start or Sit Deebo Samuel vs. Cleveland Browns week 5

Bryan’s Take: It should be fun to watch a couple young guns (Mayfield and Jimmy Garoppolo) trading shots in this one. For the Niners, Deebo Samuel is currently second to George Kittle in targets, receptions, and yards. Even though the Browns defense put a lot of pressure on Lamar Jackson last week, and no Ravens receiver had more than four catches, I still like Deebo’s ability, as well as his heavily targeted role in the offense. Start Deebo Samuel week 5.

Erin’s Take: Deebo is a dog’s name, so I’m going to say he’s well trained and knows how to follow direction. Is he a receiver or a retriever? Start Deebo Samuel week 5.

Start or Sit Mecole Hardman vs. Indianapolis Colts week 5

Bryan’s Take: The Kansas City Chiefs offense is a juggernaut, and has, arguably, the best QB in the league right now Which makes it all the more frustrating that Mecole Hardman has stumbled in his default depth chart promotion since Tyreek Hill’s injury. Hardman has been targeted 10 times in the last two weeks, and has come away with just four catches. A long TD saved him in Week 3, but there was nothing doing in Week 4. Hardman is proving to be truly boom or bust, and I’m not taking the bait this week. Sit Mecole Hardman week 5.

Erin’s Take: “Mecole Hardman” is a very exotic name for a soft-core adult film actor, with long Fabio-esque hair. He’s got moves. Start Mecole Hardman week 5.

Final Ranks

Bryan: Deebo Samuel > Jarvis Landry > Mecole Hardman

Erin: Deebo Samuel > Mecole Hardman > Jarvis Landry
