Start or Sit Christian Kirk, Will Fuller or D.K. Metcalf in Week 3?

Should I Start Christian Kirk, Will Fuller or D.K. Metcalf in Week 3?

This year for start-or-sit advice I’ve decided to share my wife’s fantasy football “insight” with the world. We will be looking at some sticky fantasy football start or sit decisions each week, and each of us will pick the player that we think should be started. I will use mostly statistical analysis, with just a touch of gut feeling. Erin will use whatever thing she uses to tell you what name speaks to her. Without further ado, let’s get into it:

Start or Sit Christian Kirk vs. Carolina Panthers

Bryan’s Take: Over the first two games, Christian Tiberius Kirk has been outsnapped and out-targeted by Uncle Drew/Larry Fitzgerald. Kirk’s Week 1 was utterly forgettable, but he bounced back in a big way in Week 2. Kyler Murray is still getting comfortable as an NFL quarterback, and lord almighty, I can feel this offense’s temperature rising. The Panthers may be playing with out Cam Newton, which would make this game far less dramatic than it could be. Even so, I still see Kirk getting involved early and often.  Start Christian Kirk.

Erin’s Take: As a former preschool teacher, I’ve seen my fair share of kids named Christian, and they’ve left a lasting impression. For example, I know Christian Kirk probably likes to test boundaries and ignore rules. He’ll probably have a fabulous game this week just to spite me. Start Christian Kirk.

Start or Sit Will Fuller at Los Angeles Chargers

Bryan’s Take: The Texans were remarkably unspectacular last week, and Fuller was no exception, hauling in four catches for 40 yards. I think this is what you get with Will Fuller. As long as the other Texans receivers are reasonably healthy, Fuller isn’t going to be heavily involved. He still may have a couple of blow up weeks, but if you’ve got him on you roster, get used to stat lines like this. Sit Will Fuller.

Erin’s Take: Will Fuller sounds like he would be one of those really big, overweight guys (she means lineman). Either that, or he’s one of those extra douchy jocks. I’m picturing someone like Zac Efron in Baywatch. Did he play lacrosse in college? Sit Will Fuller.

Start or Sit D.K. Metcalf vs. New Orleans Saints

Bryan’s Take: Can I talk about the Saints for a second? It’s going to be truly bizarre to see a Brees-less Saints team for the next several weeks. I mean, I knew it would happen someday, but it’s too soon for me. Kind of like my beard turning grey, or my kids showing me YouTube videos that are “hilarious,” but I just don’t get.  Anyway, on to the waterbirds and DeKaylin Zecharius Metcalf. Russell Wilson showed everyone that, contrary to popular belief, he can throw it more than 30 times in a game. He also showed that he can spread it around with the best of them, hooking up with EIGHT different receivers. I think Wilson keeps throwing this week, and I think Metcalf will begin producing even more with his share. Start D.K. Metcalf.

Erin’s Take: I don’t really have much to say about D.K. Metcalf. He has a very masculine name. It’s not a big stretch to go from DK to D… well, you know. He sounds like a super mediocre football player, but I still think you should Start D.K. Metcalf.

Final Ranks

Bryan: D.K. Metcalf > Christian Kirk > Will Fuller

Erin: Christian Kirk > D.K. Metcalf >  Will Fuller
